We had the 1st IFA Tourney this weekend in Jacksonville, and it was very smooth and professional. Over thirty anglers participated. Mike Kogan garnered third place, Dan Arvin for second and Roger Bump got 1st. Prize money was awarded for the 4th through 7th and that was the people that caught fish and Big Red (Arvin) and Big Trout (Bump) got another $200.
Now for the rule change.
Any Redfish caught and photographed over 27" is counted as 27". The tie breaker is broken by the first to return to the measure in with their pics. So if you catch a 36" Red, it will count as 27". I have no problem with the rule myself but thought the rest of you should know since we just found out.

I'm sure we'll have a lot to say, discuss, and anaylze these first couple of events, and as we saw today, the Kayak anglers are a super bunch of people. It was great having all the people there the last 2 days, and we sure were glad the weather cooperated for the afternoon's activities by the pool. Thanks a million to all who helped, came out to fish, and came around to shake hands and get aquainted. Congrats to all the guys who caught a fish, and especially to Roger, Dan, and Kayak Mike! I still have to get back home to Tampa on Monday, but also have a bunch of great photos to put in the gallery as soon as I can get it done. Thanks again, guys.

Tourney was great!!!!
Jeff 7th didn't pay and if It did Wheres my Loot!!!!!!
The rule change is stupid in my opinion but I'm not gonna stir the pot any more.
Congrats to those that won prizes!!
The only thing that bothered me was when I got my SD card for my camera back it was empty. Why were all my photos deleted??????????????????
Also I don't believe the right fish was judged on my SD Card. I had caught several lower slot reds, and it seems as though they scored my lowest fish, as if they didn't browse through all my photos to the correct one. Or was I supposed to delete the others???
Good times see you guys at the next one.

When it comes to judging pictures, I feel its your responisbility to make sure they look at the right one. Your the only one that can't prevent those problems. I do know when we judge pics in our tournaments we look at all of the pictures and if its a questionable call we bring in the angler to make sure we did not miss anything. But I think at the IFA it was open up enough to everyone for you to make sure Mike and Jerry saw the right pictures. Just chalk it up to a lesson learned. I thought Jason got sixth and Frank Gregg got 7th but they had 5th and 6th.

The problem with the rule change is that it turns the tourney into a trout tournament which is ironic because it's part of a redfish tournament series. Soak a mullet chunk, catch a bull to get the full 27" credit, and then go for the biggest trout or vice versa.

The way to solve the bull red dilema, go to an artificals only format. By a show of hands at the tourney we just had in Jacksonville, the majority wanted it to be an artificals only format.

My thoughts exactly. Either allow live bait all the way or go arties only. Capping the Reds is retarded...Its a photo tournament. Thier is absolutley no reason the biggest fish shouldnt win. Its funny that 321fish.com is ran that way and as soon as they got involved with the IFA they instantly changed the rule. Why is the Red limited to 27" in a photo tournament please tell me the reason?
