Lets not get feisty fellars. Everyone has an opinion on this. And they are just opinions. We all fish out of kayaks so lets just have some fun and play by the rules we have set in front of us.
Keep a tight line.

Hate to spoil yall's pissing match!! This series is a good thing for us! Here is my two cent a 2-3 fish bag , 27in max, no bull reds(fish over27 disqualifed), aggregate lenght, redfish only - no truot, artificials only, no wade fishing. You don't see anyone in the bassmasters or redfish tours wade fishing. And local waters within 30-40 miles of weigh in location. Why restrict fishing area......???? Level the playing field except for the locals kinda. I'm gonna drive in for the weigh in and go fish my back yard instead of spending entirley too much time reasearching the area and prefishing. But if i had to I would , it would be more challenging. I just think of the boaters that make the long haul to LA for redfish it becomes a tournament of who is willing to make the haul and not break down on the way there or back.

Igotthebigone, I like everthing you mentioned. Except for the 27" max limit. If fishing "arties" I don't think you would need a max limit and it would be less stress on the Judges, because, as someone mentioned in an earlier post, it would be tough to determine if a fish is fully stretched out with tail pinched etc. on a photo. I especially like limiting the boundries. I'll be driving to fish my backyard as well in all the gulf division tournaments. I don't know, I may fish the P'cola area in June when the Gulf division tournament is in Panama City. Primarily because the GCKFA tournaments have boundries and I've had to learn that area. Boundries for tournaments do give the locals an advantage, but the way the divisions are set up you would at least have one tournament in your "home waters" and the other two you would have to learn a new area and get out of your comfort zone.
Good Stuff!!! I look forward to catching up with you in Destin. Mize Malibu Pro-Staff Member

I do actually try to read every one of these posts, and while I may not always agree with the opinions of one side or the other, sometimes both, sometime neither, and often laugh as I meet the guys in person, and put a face on those who are even crazier than me.
I want to ask all you fellows to be civil and respectful of each other, no matter what your opinion is.
In the recent posts, which was in the midst of a lot of back and forth, I saw a couple of things I'd just like to address, and maybe they don't even approach the arguments that you guys are throwing back and forth, as I already answered most of them earlier.
First, the IFA in it's history, has been many things. It was originally a PRO Redfish Tournament series, and always used artificial bait, but also held we held Open series events that allowed live bait, and a family atmosphere. We've also done some triple challenges, etc.
But I'd like to correct the misconception that we once allowed live bait on the PRO tour, as that was the Open Tour.
During the 2005 season, we spent a great deal of time preparing the IFA Redfish Tour as a combination of the Pro Tour, The Open Tour, and the Texas Draw programs to be a "grassroots level series". We've still got a lot of Pro level anglers fishing with us, and they are welcome. So is any angler who wants to go fishing with us, and have fun.
The rule about 27" was partly implemented due to the many comments about "soaking mullet heads for bull reds", but also for a number of other factors. It's a standard that we can use in all the states we fish, it takes the pressure off having to catch a 45" red to have a chance to win, it puts some emphasis on the aggregate (slam) factor. Catching a red with a Gulp, Trigger X, or other live bait, when you are all fishing for 27" just levels that field.
We do not need to be reminded every day that some people do not like live bait. We get it.
Hope everyone comes out and has a good time, and as we saw in Jax last week, and Punta Gorda this week, the live bait vs artificial anglers all had a struggle with weather.

It's funny, the better the prizes the more opinions there are. Thanks IFA and Hobie for the chance to put a dedicated fishing day on my calendar.
Cheers, see ya'll at the Captains meeting.
